Walter Eugene Garrett was an American professional tennis player, born on July 11, 1925, in San Diego. He played for the UCLA Bruins and won the NCAA doubles championship in 1950 with Herbert Flam. Garrett reached the third rounds of the French Open and Wimbledon in 1951, and won the Eastern Professional Championships in 1955 after defeating Bobby Riggs. He also played in the quarter-finals of the U.S. Pro Tennis Championships in 1956. Later, he became the tennis coach at Syracuse University.
