General Echo, born Earl Anthony Robinson on December 8, 1955, in Kingston, Jamaica, was a Jamaican deejay known for his contribution to Roots Reggae. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of Slackness lyrics in reggae music. His hit single 'Arleen,' released on the Stalag Riddim by Winston Riley, reached number one in Jamaica. Aside from his musical success, General Echo was also the founder and deejay of the renowned Jamaican sound system, Echo Tone Hi Fi. He passed away in 1980 in his hometown.
