Gennady Ivanovich Sklyar, born on May 17, 1952, in Termez, Surxondaryo Region, is a notable Russian political figure and a deputy of the 8th State Duma. He was formerly a member of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union until 1991. Sklyar played a key role in uniting leftist forces with a socialist orientation and co-chaired the Socialist Party of Workers in 1992. He served as an expert and consultant to the Supreme Soviet's first vice-chairman and was an assistant to a deputy from 1994 to 1996. He has been a deputy in the 7th and 8th State Dumas.
