Gennadi Golstein (born 1938) is a Russian jazz bandleader, composer, and alto saxophonist known for his significant contributions to modern jazz. Active during the post-Stalin era of the 1950s and 1960s, he played with major big bands, including those led by Eddie Rosner and Josif Weinstein. Golstein was inspired by jazz legends such as Charlie Parker and Cannonball Adderley, and later, musicians like Roland Kirk. He led a quintet in Leningrad during the 1960s and integrated elements of hard bop, folk themes, and early classical polyphony in his performances.
