Geno Adamia was a Georgian military commander born on March 8, 1936, in Suchumi, Georgia. He played a significant role in the Abkhazian War, where he formed a large volunteer army from Mingrelian citizens to assist the Georgian army amid the conflict. Adamia was respected by Georgians and was promoted to Major General by Eduard Shevardnadze, serving as the commander of the 23rd Mechanized Brigade. He fought fiercely for Suchumi against Abkhaz forces and died on September 28, 1993, in battle, refusing to surrender.
