Georg Nees was a German graphic artist and computer scientist, born on June 23, 1926, in Nuremberg, and passed away on January 3, 2016, in Baiersdorf. He was a pioneer of computer art and generative graphics. Nees studied mathematics, physics, and philosophy in Erlangen and Stuttgart. He served as a scientific advisor for SEMIOSIS, an international journal focusing on semiotics and aesthetics. In 1977, he became an honorary professor of applied computer science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He was part of the group known as the 3N computer pioneers.
