George Augustus Stallings Jr. (born March 17, 1948) is a notable figure in the African-American Catholic community, recognized for founding the Imani Temple African-American Catholic Congregation. He was actively involved in the Black Catholic Movement and served as a Catholic priest from 1974 to 1989, primarily in Washington, D.C. In 1989, he established the Imani Temple as an independent denomination and publicly separated from the Roman Catholic Church in 1990 during an appearance on The Phil Donahue Show, leading to his excommunication by the Archbishop of Washington.
