George Ewart Evans (1 April 1909 – 11 January 1988) was a Welsh folklorist and oral historian known for collecting folk tales and oral traditions in rural East Anglia. Born in Abercynon, he studied classics at Cardiff University and became a teacher. After WWII, he discovered rural life themes while teaching in Suffolk, leading to a significant body of work in oral history. His notable publications include works that explore rural culture and traditions, establishing him as a pioneer in the field. He remained connected to Wales throughout his life while residing in East Anglia.
