He played as a catcher in the minor leagues for ten seasons with the Baltimore Orioles before shifting to coaching and scouting roles. Farson had a .236 batting average with 38 home runs during his 718-game minor league career and managed various teams in the Orioles and other organizations. He also served as a catching instructor and scout with the Philadelphia Phillies until 1989.
