George Glauberman is an American mathematician born in 1941 in New York City. He specializes in finite simple groups and is known for proving the ZJ theorem and the Z*-theorem. Glauberman completed his undergraduate studies at the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn in 1961 and earned a master's degree from Harvard University in 1962. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1965 under Richard Brauer. Glauberman has supervised 22 Ph.D. students and became a fellow of the American Mathematical Society in 2012.
