George C. "Tiny" Mercer was an American convicted of the rape and murder of Karen Keeton in 1978. He was executed by lethal injection at 44 years old, being the first person executed in Missouri since 1965. Prior to the murder, he faced charges for raping a 17-year-old girl. His execution was notably carried out in a former gas chamber converted for lethal injections.
