Henry George Alan Percy, 9th Duke of Northumberland, was born on July 15, 1912, and was the son of the 8th Duke. He served in the British Army and as a Parliamentary Private Secretary. Renowned as one of Britain's most eligible bachelors, he was tragically killed in Belgium in 1940 during World War II. His legacy continues through his brother Hugh, who succeeded him as Duke. A posthumous portrait of the Duke is displayed at Alnwick Castle.
