Georgi Mikajeli Petrosjan is an Armenian politician born on January 10, 1953, in Stepanakert, Soviet Union. He served in the Soviet Army from 1971 to 1973 and graduated from the Minsk Institute of Radio Engineering in 1978. He worked as a chief engineer in a capacitor factory in Stepanakert from 1980 to 1990. Active in the Karabakh movement since 1988, he was a member of Armenia's Supreme Council from 1990 to 1995 and served as acting chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Karabakh from 1992 to 1993. He has been the Foreign Minister since 2005.
