He served as a professor in the Department of Mass Communications at the RUDN University and was also a writer and playwright. Zubkov was a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR in 1982 and received the title of Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR in 1974. He was a distinguished figure in science and served as a member of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio's board.
