Gerrit 'Ger' Challa is a Dutch chemist, born on December 18, 1928, in Amsterdam. He served as a professor of chemistry and polymer technology at the University of Groningen from 1965 to 1993. After obtaining his doctorate in 1959 at the University of Amsterdam, he worked at the Institute of Cellulose Research. Challa contributed significantly to polymer chemistry education and research. His election to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1986 and honorary membership in the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society in 1998 highlight his achievements.
