Gerry Francis Ridsdale is an Australian priest known for sexually abusing children while in his clerical position. His crimes are among the most notorious cases of sexual abuse within the Catholic Church in Australia. Ridsdale was convicted in 1994 for abusing 21 victims over two decades, and numerous additional victims came forward over the years. By 2006, he faced charges for 54 further abuse cases. In a fifth trial after incarceration, he pleaded guilty to 23 additional charges, leading to an 11-year sentence in 2017. He is linked to a total of 65 victims between 1961 and 1988.
