Gérard Conte (February 1, 1931 - May 23, 2012) was a French jazz author who became interested in New Orleans jazz while serving in the military in Germany in 1950. He began publishing articles on jazz history in the magazine Jazz Hot in 1954 with the support of Charles Delaunay. Conte was involved with various jazz publications and contributed to the Dictionnaire du Jazz. In 1963, he founded the Association Française des Amateurs de Jazz Nouvelle-Orléans, which helped name a Place Louis Armstrong in Paris. He also authored two books on the history of the 13th Arrondissement.
