Gerardus 't Hooft is a Dutch physicist born in Den Helder on July 5, 1946. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1999, which he shared with Martinus J. G. Veltman for their work on the quantum structure of electroweak interactions in physics. In addition to the Nobel Prize, he received the Lorentz Medal in 1986 and the Franklin Medal in 1995, recognizing his significant contributions to theoretical physics.
