Héctor Gerardo Tamez Domínguez, born on May 6, 1948, in Chicago, is a prominent Mexican guitarist, composer, arranger, and teacher. He was a founding member of the group Los Folkloristas and currently directs the Terceto de Guitarras de la Ciudad de México and the Ensamble Tierra Mestiza, both of which he also founded. In recognition of his contributions to Mexican culture, he received the Medalla Bellas Artes in 2018. His notable work, Tierra Mestiza, has earned him various honors and tributes throughout his career.
