Gerda Gattel was a German-American comic book letterer and proofreader, born on October 28, 1908, in Liechtenstein. Fleeing Nazi oppression, she moved to London in 1939 and later settled in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband Gerhard. Gattel began her comic career in 1947 as a letterer for Marvel Comics and later became a proofreader and production manager. In 1958, she joined DC Comics, where she served as the production coordinator and created the company's publication archive, retiring in 1973.
