Germán Pomares Ordóñez, known by his alias El Danto, was a Nicaraguan revolutionary and co-founder of the National Directorate of the Sandinista National Liberation Front. He was born on August 17, 1937, in El Viejo, Chinandega, and died on May 24, 1979, in Jinotega during combat operations of the Nicaraguan Revolution. He was posthumously declared a national hero in 1981, receiving honors and ranks from the Sandinista Front and the Sandinista People's Army.
