Gerry 'Podge' O'Neill (1919-2004) was a prominent Australian rules footballer who played for Footscray in the VFL. Beginning his career at Chiltern, he won multiple premierships and individual accolades, including the Azzi Medal for best and fairest. O'Neill served in World War II, playing for Footscray during his service. After the war, he returned to Chiltern, where he led the team as captain-coach and became the leading goalkicker in the Ovens & King Football League before retiring.
