Gert van Veen is a Dutch musicologist, journalist, pop musician, and manager born in Utrecht on February 25, 1955. He studied musicology at Utrecht University after completing his secondary education. During this period, he formed a band called Sphynx. Van Veen worked as a journalist for the Volkskrant from 1985 to 2000, focusing on pop and dance music. He also created a house act named Quazar and later became a manager for Club Risk. He served as the creative director at Studio 80 from 2008 to 2013.
