Gevorg Hambardzumi Abajian was an influential Armenian theatrical and literary critic born on December 12, 1920, in Shnogh village, Lori Province, Armenia. He earned a PhD in Philology in 1956 and was recognized as a Renowned Activist of Armenian SSR Arts in 1972. A World War II veteran, he served as an artist in the Gyumri Dramatic Theatre from 1945 onward, later becoming the chief-editor of cultural programs for Armenian SSR state TV and leading the press-department for cultural relations with the Armenian diaspora. Abajian authored numerous books, novels, and articles.
