Following his escape to Germany in 1949, he continued his work in exiled press, contributing to outlets like Látóhatár. Ekecs gained significant recognition during his tenure at Radio Free Europe from December 1951 to March 1992, where his music programs became legendary, particularly impacting Hungarian youth in the 1960s and 1970s. He passed away on November 13, 2017.
