Gilberto Amaro do Nascimento, known as Giba Giba, was a Brazilian singer, composer, percussionist, and cultural activist born in Pelotas around December 6, 1940. He had a career spanning over 40 years and was directly involved with black movements, serving as an advisor on Afro-Azorian affairs in the Porto Alegre Culture Secretary. Giba Giba co-founded and was the first president of the samba school Praiana. He was honored posthumously by the Unidos do Fragata samba school in 2002. He passed away on February 3, 2014.
