Gil Koetzle was a Democratic politician who served in the South Dakota Senate from 2001 to 2008, representing the 15th district. Prior to that, he was a member of the House from 1993 to 2000. His political career ended tragically when he committed suicide on January 10, 2013, following the discovery of disturbing material, including child pornography and marijuana, in his possession.
