Giovanni Scalzo is a former Italian fencer, born on March 17, 1959, in Messina, Italy, who specialized in the sabre. He represented Italy in the 1980s and 1990s across multiple Olympic Games, competing individually and as a team member. Notably, he won a bronze medal in individual sabre at the 1988 Olympics. He was also crowned the European champion in individual events in 1983. Additionally, Scalzo contributed to his team's success, earning one gold medal in 1984, a silver in 1980, and a bronze in 1988 at the Olympics, along with two second-place finishes at World Championships in 1982 and 1993.
