Girma Assefa, born on June 20, 1986, in Shewa, is an Ethiopian marathon runner. He achieved notable success in junior cross-country competitions, finishing eighth in the 2002 World Championships and fifth in 2003, both gaining silver medals with his team. After joining the Subaru corporate team in 2004, he was runner-up at the Sapporo Half Marathon four times from 2004 to 2007. He later transitioned to full marathons, securing sixth place at the Berlin Marathon in 2009 and setting a course record at the Mumbai Marathon in 2011.
