Gisela Friebel (February 22, 1941 - 1995) was a German author known for writing over 500 paperback series novels. She published two novels in the science fiction series Raumschiff Promet in 1972, potentially making her the first female author in German science fiction paperback literature. Under the pseudonym Gisela de Fries, she was a main author for the series Rote Laterne, which revolved around the lives of prostitutes, and also wrote for other series. Friebel battled cancer for 12 years before her death in 1995.
