Gisèle Rabesahala was a Malagasy politician born in Antananarivo, Madagascar, on May 7, 1929. She fought for her country's independence, human rights, and people's freedom. As a significant figure, she became the first Malagasy woman to serve as a minister in 1977. After being involved in the Malagasy Democratic Renewal Movement at a young age, she participated in the 1947 Malagasy Rebellion, advocated for political prisoners, and founded her own political party, later serving as vice president of the Senate in 2001. She passed away on June 27, 2011.
