Gissur Ólafur Erlingsson (1909–2013) was a licensed interpreter and translator, recognized as the oldest Icelandic man at the time of his death at age 104. He was born in Brúnavík, Iceland, and served various roles including maritime radio operator and manager of broadcasting stations. Additionally, Gissur translated numerous plays, short stories, and over a hundred books. He was active in the Rotary movement and a founding member of multiple golf clubs. He was married twice and had seven children in total, with nearly 150 descendants today.
