Gladys Mae West (born in 1930 as Gladys Mae Brown) is an American mathematician known for her contributions to the mathematical modeling of the Earth's shape and her work in developing satellite geodesy models that ultimately led to the Global Positioning System (GPS). Her significant achievements in this field earned her a place in the United States Air Force Hall of Fame in 2018.
