Gloria McPhee was a pioneering Bermudian politician and the first woman appointed to a government ministry in Bermuda. She served in the House of Assembly from 1968 to 1980 as a member of the United Bermuda Party (UBP), holding several ministerial portfolios. Educated at Howard University, she originally sought to be a dentist but became a laboratory technician. McPhee was an advocate for increased representation of Black Bermudians and was critical of government leadership. She resigned from the cabinet in 1977 and later endorsed a Progressive Labour Party candidate.
