Glyn James, born Glyndwr Powell James on March 26, 1925, in Llangrannog, Ceredigion, was a member of the Plaid Cymru party. He gained prominence in the late 1950s after founding Radio Free Wales following the ban of Plaid Cymru's broadcasts on the BBC. He was elected to the Rhondda Borough Council and later the Mid Glamorgan County Council, serving as Mayor of Rhondda in 1960. He stood as a candidate for Plaid Cymru in the Rhondda parliamentary constituency in seven elections between 1955 and 1979.
