Gustavo de Jesús Gaviria Rivero (December 25, 1949 - August 11, 1990) was the cousin of famous Colombian drug trafficker Pablo Escobar and his lifelong friend. He was considered the mastermind behind all drug trafficking operations within their group. Often referred to as 'the snake of Medellín,' Gustavo was a close associate of Escobar since their youth, forming the initial core of the Medellín Cartel with his brother Pablo and a small group of family members.
