Gordon Epperson was an American cellist and music educator, born on January 18, 1921, in Williston, Florida, and died on October 31, 2006, in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from the Cincinnati Conservatory in 1941 and further studied at Tanglewood. Epperson earned his master's degree at Eastman School of Music in 1949 and a doctorate from Boston University in 1960. He performed with the Indianapolis Orchestra and Seattle Symphony and taught at several universities in Louisiana, Ohio, and Arizona. Epperson authored several books, including 'The Art of Cello Teaching' and other works on music theory and poetry.
