Sir James Gordon Robson was a prominent Scottish anaesthetist born on 18 March 1921 in Stirling. He graduated from Glasgow University in 1944. After serving in the Royal Army Medical Corps in East Africa, he returned to Scotland and worked in anaesthetics. He held key positions at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, McGill University, and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London. He conducted significant research in anaesthetics. Knighted in 1982, he served as the president of the Royal Society of Medicine from 1986 to 1988, until his passing on 23 February 2007.
