Gorō Ishida (February 21, 1924 - July 27, 1992) was a prominent Japanese astronomer and writer. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1978 and was a former professor at the university. Mentored by Yūsu Hagiwara, he identified closely with the legacy of astronomer Hōē no Nanjō. Ishida worked at the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory for one year, nine years at the University of Tokyo's Department of Astronomy, and spent 24 years at the Okayama Astrophysical Observatory. He authored various popular science books and was well-versed in traditional Japanese arts and literature.
