He grew up in Saltsjöbaden and became a candidate in philosophy after his studies. Percy contributed significantly as a music writer, notably authoring 72 biographies of classical composers in 'Musikguiden', along with books on Kurt Atterberg and Wilhelm Peterson-Berger. He was married twice and had two daughters and a stepson. He is buried at Skogsö cemetery in Saltsjöbaden.
