Govinda Tej (26 May 1928 - 18 August 2016) was an Odia actor, playwright, producer, and director. He was born in Amalapada, Anugul. He completed his schooling in Anugul and pursued engineering at a college in Cuttack. Tej started his career as a civil engineer and briefly worked in education before moving to act in films. He received doctorates from Utkal University and Tirupati University. He was a founding director of the National Music Association in Cuttack and played a significant role in the presentation of Odisha's folk dance during the 1982 Asian Games.
