Graciela Arroyo de Cordero was a prominent Mexican nurse and academic born on March 8, 1934, in Mexico City. Known as Maestra Cordero, she made significant contributions to the professionalization of nursing in Mexico. She served twice as the director of the National School of Nursing and Midwifery and was the first Mexican nurse to join the University Council of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Arroyo de Cordero also created and coordinated the Interinstitutional Nursing Commission of the Health Secretariat across three administrations, strengthening nursing in the health sector.
