Graham John Billing was a New Zealand novelist, journalist, and poet born on 12 January 1936 in Dunedin. He was educated at Otago Boys' High School and the University of Otago. Billing worked as a journalist from 1958 to 1977 and was an information officer for the New Zealand Antarctic Research Programme. His literary works include novels such as 'The Slipway', which reflects his struggles with alcoholism, and 'Forbush and the Penguins', inspired by his Antarctic experiences. He also wrote poetry, radio plays, and several non-fiction texts.
