Jenkins worked as a market inspector in Port Talbot, a manager at Afan Lido, and later as a sports organizer for the BBC in London. He lived on Ynys y Garn before returning to South Wales. He was married and had two sons, experiencing Alzheimer's disease for years before passing away at the age of 88.
