Gregory Hollingshead, born on February 25, 1947, is a notable Canadian novelist and former professor of English at the University of Alberta. A graduate of the University of Toronto, he achieved recognition with his 1995 short story collection 'The Roaring Girl,' which won the Governor General's Award. His novel 'The Healer' (1998) earned him the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize and a shortlist for the Giller Prize. Hollingshead was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 2012 and directed the Writing Studio at the Banff Centre from 2000 to 2018.
