Greg Sarris is an American university professor, author, producer, and screenwriter, currently serving as the President of the federally recognized Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria. Born on February 12, 1952, in Santa Rosa, California, he was appointed to the chair in Native American Studies at Sonoma State University in 2005, a position endowed by his tribe. He previously held a position as Fletcher Jones Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and was a tenured professor at UCLA for a decade.
