Gregg L. Semenza is a professor of pediatrics, radiation oncology, biochemistry, medicine, and oncology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984, with a dissertation focused on beta-thalassemia. Semenza also serves as the director of the vascular program at the Institute for Cell Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He was awarded the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research in 2016.
