Gregor Zippel OSB, born Stephan Edmund Zippel on November 24, 1939, in Ratibor, Silesia, is the retired abbot of the Benedictine monastery of Rohr. After being displaced, he found refuge in Goslar and later joined the monastery's Gymnasium in Lower Bavaria. He entered the novitiate, took the name Gregor, and was ordained a priest in 1968. He taught Latin and German, served as prefect at the boarding school, and became abbot of Rohr in 2002. He resigned in 2010 and continued to perform confirmations and teach until 2020.
