His research primarily focused on the behavior of radioactive substances, particularly actinides, in aqueous solutions, encompassing nuclear chemistry, complex chemistry, physical chemistry, and environmental chemistry. Notably, he co-discovered three elements: Mendelevium, Fermium, and Einsteinium. Choppin passed away on October 21, 2015, in Tallahassee, Florida.
