Grethe Barrett Holby is an accomplished American theatre producer, stage director, choreographer, and dramaturge, renowned for her contributions to the field of opera. She founded American Opera Projects and served as its Artistic Director from 1988 to 2001. In addition, Holby established the Family Opera Initiative in 1995 and Ardea Arts, Inc. in 2006. Her influence in the arts has been recognized through a Creative Arts Residency awarded by The Rockefeller Foundation in 2006.
